Lilia is “the hero”

We did a photo shoot for Baby Center’s Halloween Boutique last month and landed what web merchandisers call the “hero shot”. That basically makes her Super Baby, right?

Lilia had a blast with all the other babies and turned on the charm for all the people trying to get her to smile for the camera. She was a cute little ladybug, a pea in a pod and an adorable little kitten!

We’ve done a couple other shoots for friends here and there, so we’ll let you know where she pops up next!

No more monkeys bouncing on the bed

We knew the time was coming when we couldn’t leave Lilia alone on the bed anymore, even surrounded by the highest of pillow forts and that time is now. According to P Bear she took a header off the bed and took the pillow fort with her during her nap this morning.

Between the leaf eating and bed diving, the world is becoming a more dangerous place for our ever more mobile little girl.

Lilia the Leaf Eater

Adina’s Adam aka Super Dad took on both the girls for a couple hours this afternoon and let Adina and I run off to indulge in girl stuff. Read: Second pedicure since Lilia was born. She’s 7 1/2 months old. Poor poor pedicurist.

In any case my little angel gave him a run for his money.

Who me?

I fed her and changed her before we left and told him where her sweater was in case it got windy, but I forgot to warn him that she’s a chronic leaf eater! She turned her back on him and started eating leaves, then she spit up and started screaming her little head off. We called for Daddy back up in the form of my Adam and a couple of nearby moms helped with the leaf spot and swoop.

Seriously though, sorry I didn’t warn you that Lilia’s a little leaf eater Adam and thanks for taking good care of her while Adina and I enjoyed some baby free time. You’re the best!

Slumber Party

The Rose Family came over for a slumber party tonight and play date tomorrow. We read the girls a story while they played pass the pacifier. When it was time for bed Jules gave Lilia a goodnight kiss.

More to come from their visit tomorrow, but for now Adam and I are the only ones not slumbering at this party…must rectify that at once!

Daddy play date

When two stay at home daddies get together for a play date, grins happen.

Alfie’s dad Reuben hangs with him during the day while his mommy Anna works so the dads got together with the kids for some fun. According to Adam they played nicely together and Alfie enjoyed petting Lilia’s hair. Too sweet.

Cheerio Chomping Technique Mastered

This was a big week for the fate of Cheerios everywhere. Until now Lilia has mostly pushed them around her tray, pounded them with her fists, picked them up and dropped them off the side of her highchair or opened wide for me to feed them to her. She has now mastered picking them up and eating them all by herself. Cheerios beware.

Project update

Sewing with a baby is slow going!

Ok, it’s not really fair of me to blame Lilia. Me being a rookie sewer afraid of cutting the fabric is more likely the root cause of the turtle pace. As I was pinning the pattern at every inch or so my mom pointed out that I was pinning so much to avoid making the first cut. Good observation. Being left handed doesn’t do me any favors when it comes to sewing either.

Thanks to a lot of help from said mom we made good progress on not one but two dresses, one for now and one for later, and one pair of the little panties are almost done and actually fit her! How exciting is that?

My machine was refusing to cooperate on the button hole setting so mom took it home to finish it, but maybe Lilia will get to model it this weekend!

I wanna be big

Lilia hung out with another big girl friend and had too much fun, even as Amelia crawled circles around her and used her as a chair, Lilia just seemed to look at her in awe.

Within hours of her friend heading home, Lilia pulled herself up to standing on the ottoman just like Amelia did as if to say, look Mommy, I’m a big girl too! Luckily she didn’t seem to crack the crawling code yet. She may need another play date or two before she figures that out.

Lilia <3’s Jack

Lilia’s affection for older men has been clear from the beginning when she fell head over heels for Kai.

But yesterday Jack spent the day with Adam and Lilia and he too seemed to capture her heart.

Clearly a little couch jumping and a pillow fight is all it takes to make her happy. She’s so easy.

The gift of sleep

Adam and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary on Wednesday and we were remembered by friends and family in a number of special ways, but none of them topped Lilia’s gift. She went down at 8pm and slept till 6:30am, in her crib! It was her way of saying, I love you guys, take some time for yourselves. A repeat performance of that sleep pattern happened again last night. Lemme tell you, we could get used to it…if she lets us.
